Now Richmond’s Country Club Vista neighborhood is turning to license plate readers to help fight crime.
Their reader was purchased in the spring from an Atlanta startup. More and more homeowners are using similar devices, including neighborhoods in the Oakland, California area.
“Almost every weekend, there was somebody doing burnouts, and since the camera has been in place, it’s been reduced dramatically,” said Elaine Wong, Richmond resident.
