How Hardin County is Rallying Together to Shape a Safer Future for Their Community

Situated just an hour outside of Louisville, Hardin County, Kentucky is home to over 100,000 residents and encompasses the cities of Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Vine Grove, Rineyville, Cecilia, West Point, and Sonora.

In an effort to prevent and solve crime with fewer officers, law enforcement agencies across Hardin County deployed Flock Safety Falcon® LPR cameras throughout the area.

Since deploying the cameras just under a year ago, Elizabethtown Police Department, Radcliff Police Department, and Hardin County Sheriff's Office have all quickly embraced the technology.

During a recent press conference, leaders from each department came together to share the success they’ve experienced since installing the cameras.

"According to the Chief, the game-changing technology helped as officers investigated 175 incidents between February 9th and December 31st, 2023. And this year, the program is expanding."

After seeing the impact that the cameras have had on the community, Hardin County Schools announced that they will be building upon the existing network of cameras in the area by deploying 20 additional cameras across their campuses to help keep students, faculty, and facilities safe.

"We just want our parents and our communities to know that we are taking all steps that we can to protect your children on a daily basis."
Terrie Morgan, Superintendent | Hardin County Schools

By installing LPR cameras throughout the school campuses, Hardin County law enforcement will be better equipped to intercept potential threats before they escalate, as the cameras act as a virtual gate around the schools.

In addition to Hardin County Schools’ investment in Flock LPR cameras, Radcliff Police Department is deploying additional cameras throughout the community.

"I look at it as putting a whole lot more cops on the street."
Chief Jeffrey Cross | Radcliff Police Department

While each individual who spoke at the press conference represents a different entity in the community, their common goal of increasing safety in Hardin County is clear. By partnering together to invest in technology, the community is paving a clear path toward a safer community, together.
