Celebrating Women’s History Month: Lessons from Flock’s Leadership Panel
In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Women of Flock Employee Resource Group (WOF) hosted a leadership panel featuring four women leaders from across the company. Employees gathered at Flock’s Atlanta headquarters and joined virtually via Zoom to hear insights on career growth, resilience, and leadership.
The event featured Meg Heusel, VP of Go-To-Market; Paige Todd, Chief People Officer; Rakhi Voria, VP of Commercial Sales; and Christina Engebretson, SVP of Operations. The discussion was moderated by Caity Peak, a member of the Women of Flock board.
Together, the panelists shared candid reflections on their career journeys, the challenges they’ve faced along the way, and the importance of mentorship and community.

Career Paths Aren’t Always Linear
One of the key themes throughout the discussion was that career paths rarely follow a straight line. Several panelists shared that the roles that ultimately defined their careers were not always the ones they originally expected.
“Your career is so long, and there’s so much opportunity along the way.” –Christina
Being willing to explore new roles and step outside of your comfort zone, they explained, can lead to unexpected growth.
My biggest takeaway has been to stay open-minded and say yes to opportunities. That’s kind of been my motto throughout my career.” –Rakhi
Learning Through Challenges
The panelists also reflected on moments when things didn’t go as planned and how those experiences helped shape their leadership perspectives.
Professional setbacks and difficult moments, they explained, often become opportunities for growth.
“Sometimes you just have to keep your head down and keep working on what you believe in, even when things feel difficult.” –Paige
Those experiences, while challenging in the moment, can build resilience and help leaders develop new perspectives.
“It’s okay to stumble along the way — that’s how you learn.” –Meg

The Power of Mentorship
Another important theme was the role mentorship can play in helping people navigate their careers.
Panelists encouraged employees to seek out mentors and to approach those conversations openly and honestly.
“Investing in building a network is the number one thing that has propelled my career.” –Rakhi
Mentorship, they noted, doesn’t always have to be formal. Valuable guidance can come from colleagues, leaders, or peers who are willing to share their experiences and perspectives.
Supporting Women in Leadership
As part of the Women’s History Month conversation, panelists also highlighted the importance of supporting women’s advancement in the workplace.
“Advancing women in the workplace isn’t something we can do alone — it requires support from our male allies as well.” –Rakhi
Creating environments where diverse perspectives are valued helps organizations grow stronger and encourages more women to pursue leadership roles.

Building Community at Flock
Following the panel discussion, employees at the Atlanta headquarters stayed for a networking reception, continuing the conversations sparked during the event and connecting with colleagues across teams.
The event reflected the mission of Women of Flock: fostering community, supporting professional development, and empowering women across the company.
Through open conversations and shared experiences, the panel highlighted an important message for employees across Flock: leadership journeys rarely follow a straight path, but with curiosity, resilience, and support from others, they can lead to meaningful growth.
