Protect Yourself From Job Scams Impersonating Flock Safety
Here’s what to know about these scams targeting job seekers, what we’re doing, and how to protect yourself.
Job seekers are being targeted by scammers impersonating recruiters at legitimate companies, including Flock Safety, through email and LinkedIn. These scams misuse our company name and real job descriptions to mislead candidates in an attempt to collect personal information.
Our Security team is actively investigating these incidents and reporting fraudulent domains, accounts, and job postings. We’ve heard from individuals who have received fake interview invitations, employment offers, and “onboarding” documents, followed by requests for payment or sensitive personal information. These campaigns are not affiliated with Flock Safety in any way.
If you’re exploring career opportunities with Flock Safety, please be aware of the following to avoid bad actors posing as our team.
What we’re seeing
While recruiting scams aren’t new, recent incidents differ from earlier attempts by using more polished tactics and more convincing impersonation methods, including reposting authentic Flock Safety job listings and presenting themselves as recruiters. These messages often appear on trusted platforms like LinkedIn or Glassdoor and quickly escalate to requests for sensitive information.
Known tactics include:
- Fake job advertisements using real Flock Safety roles
- Outreach from email addresses tied to fraudulent or lookalike domains (for example, careers-flocksafety[.]com)
- Invented recruiter or employee names claiming to represent Flock Safety
- Requests for personal details outside of a formal application
- Requests for payment for equipment, background checks, “training,” or “certifications”
- Requests for sensitive info early in the process (SSN, bank details, copies of IDs, etc.
These impersonators can be highly sophisticated. They may know enough about our company to sound credible, and they may reference real job titles or hiring managers to gain trust.
Red flags to watch for
You should be cautious if:
- Messages come from email addresses unaffiliated with our official domain, @flocksafety.com. These may even be one letter off that domain (i.e. flocksafaty.com)
- You’re contacted about a role that isn’t listed on our careers site
- You’re asked to share personal information outside of our careers platform, Ashby
- The sender avoids confirming their identity through a flocksafety.com address
- You’re asked to pay money for equipment, certifications, or background checks
- You’re asked to share sensitive personal information unusually early (SSN, banking details, scans of IDs)
These are strong indicators that the opportunity may not be legitimate.
How to tell if a Flock Safety job is real
Our recruiting process is designed to be transparent and verifiable. Before engaging with any recruiter or job posting, check for the following:
- Official careers page: All open roles are listed at flocksafety.com/careers and we encourage you to apply directly through our careers site
- Verified email addresses: We only contact candidates from official email addresses ending in @flocksafety.com
- Direct links only: LinkedIn job listings should route straight to our Careers Page, with no extra pages or forms
- No early PII or payment requests: We will never ask for personal or sensitive information before you apply or before you receive your offer letter, and we never ask candidates to pay for anything
If any of these steps are missing, pause and verify before moving forward.
What we’re doing to reduce the risk
Flock Safety’s teams are actively working to detect and disrupt these impersonation campaigns. That includes:
- Investigating reports of suspicious outreach and fake recruiter identities, and reporting impersonation accounts to social networks and platform providers
- Working to take down fraudulent domains and pages used in scams
- Updating internal controls and public guidance to help job seekers verify legitimate outreach
These scams evolve quickly, and we treat every report seriously.
Report suspected recruiting scams
If you believe you’ve been contacted by someone impersonating Flock Safety, please report it immediately:
- Email: security@flocksafety.com
- Include: screenshots, email headers (if possible), recruiter profile links, phone numbers, and any domains/URLs
We’re grateful for the interest in working at Flock Safety and want every candidate's experience to be safe, transparent, and respectful. Taking a few moments to verify a job posting can help protect you and others from these scams.
