When FlockOS launched, it was a bold reimagining of how public safety teams could unify their tools, streamline operations and respond with greater clarity. But it wasn’t the final product—it was the beginning of a conversation.
Over the last 12 months, Flock Safety has listened to those on the frontlines: officers, command staff, detectives, real-time crime center analysts, fire departments, private security teams and more. That feedback has transformed FlockOS into something even more powerful: the opportunity to respond as a unified force by coordinating across teams and agencies with shared intel.
FlockOS is a single pane of glass for devices and data, powered by artificial intelligence and designed in partnership with those who rely on it daily.
Let’s walk through how customer insights shaped the core and made FlockOS the central nervous system of modern public safety ecosystems.
1. One Pane for Every Device: FlockOS Integration Platform
Agencies asked for a way to collapse the silos of legacy systems. They needed real-time visibility without bouncing between platforms. FlockOS delivered that—and then took it further.
Customer-driven additions:
- Unified Map Interface: Based on agency feedback, FlockOS built a truly operational map layer that brings together CAD, LPR, drone, and camera data in one view, turning a dispatcher’s map into an intelligent command center.
- VMS & Body Camera Integration: Departments wanted to bridge their existing camera infrastructure, especially VMS platforms like Milestone. Officers also asked for live-streaming and GPS tracking from body-worn and in-car systems. Both are now seamlessly available within the platform.
- CAD and ESRI Layering: Officers needed real-time call-for-service overlays and better geo-context. That’s why FlockOS now layers CAD feeds with ESRI data. This provides critical insights like jurisdictional boundaries and unit locations at a glance.
- Drone Integration and Map Attachments: Direct integration of aerial surveillance and the ability to pin floorplans, contact lists, or facility schematics to map locations emerged directly from RTCC operators requesting deeper operational context during fast-moving events.
2. One Pane for All the Data: Flock Nova Integration
As RTCCs scaled, analysts and detectives needed tools to sift through vast amounts of case data. Flock Nova became their power tool, but it’s Nova’s evolution that truly reflects user input.
Customer-driven upgrades:
- Cross-System Search: Users demanded the ability to query across ALPR, video, RMS, CAD, and third-party data. Nova’s comprehensive search now enables that with natural language input and flexible filters.
- Collaborative Workflows: Departments asked for easier cross-agency coordination. Nova now enables secure sharing and permission-based collaboration across jurisdictions.
- Investigative Enhancements: From timeline visualizations to link analysis, Nova’s newest tools mirror requests from investigators seeking faster ways to uncover patterns and relationships in time-sensitive cases.
3. Real-Time AI: From Data to Intelligence
Agencies told us they didn’t need more data; they needed better intelligence. That meant AI that works in the background, doing the hard work of pattern recognition, prioritization, and insight delivery.
Customer-powered AI innovations:
- Freeform Search & Alerting: Agencies wanted to set up proactive alerts, not just query after the fact. Now, FlockOS supports alerts based on license plates, vehicle characteristics, individuals and more; all powered by AI-driven search across all systems.
- AI CAD Call Analysis: With feedback from dispatch centers, Flock added the ability to analyze call data in real time. This allows FlockOS to surface trends, prioritizing urgent cases and even preparing officers with contextual briefings before they arrive.
- Real-Time 911 AI (Flock911): One of the most exciting features, built in response to dispatcher needs, is real-time AI analysis of 911 calls. The system listens for keywords, urgency, and escalation cues, flagging critical info and highlighting patterns across multiple calls.
- Vehicle AI Intelligence: Users needed more than plate reads. Flock’s advanced ALPR now uses AI to identify make, model, color and distinguishing features—cross-referenced against call data and video evidence.
4. Community Partnership Network: Scale Through Collaboration
Customers asked, "How can we expand our video network without massive infrastructure investment?" That question led directly to the evolution of the Community Partnership Network.
Built through feedback, built for scale:
- Turnkey Community Cameras: Agencies and businesses needed a frictionless way to contribute footage. Now, Flock can install and manage third-party cameras at local businesses to rapidly grow community coverage, all without burdening agencies.
- Gateway Management: Customers made it clear: integrations should be Flock’s problem, not theirs. The platform now handles connectivity, maintenance, and video ingestion for third-party cameras directly.
- Public-Private Safety Programs: Law enforcement wanted faster collaboration with local businesses and residents. Flock streamlined partnership agreements, added a simple community registration portal, and built transparency dashboards to showcase impact and build trust.
