Flock Safety Ethical Creed
A. At Flock Safety, we believe that:
- Crime goes unsolved due to lack of accurate, actionable, and objective evidence and limited resources
- Solving crime deters future crime.
- Transparency and accountability build trust between communities, government, and law enforcement – making communities safer and more equitable.
- Democratic decision making and local autonomy should be encouraged and respected.
- With the right technical and policy safeguards, public safety technology will not infringe on constitutionally protected rights.
- Public safety technology that efficiently captures objective, accurate evidence and supports transparency and accountability makes communities safer.
B. Therefore, Flock Safety builds public safety technology that:
- Captures information that can be used as accurate and objective evidence;
- Is efficient and user friendly;
- Safeguards against misuse, abuse, and infringement on constitutionally-protected rights; and
- Complies with local, state, and federal laws.
C. Flock Safety will not adopt technology that we determine has significant potential for any of the following, or lacks a technical or policy solution to mitigate these risks:
- Illegality;
- Inaccurate results;
- Subjective results;
- Misuse and abuse;
- Disparate impact on historically marginalized groups; or
- Infringement on constitutionally protected rights.
