Birds Of A Feather: Meet Sharif Kazwah, An Electrical Engineer Based in Atlanta

Job Title: Electrical Deployment Engineer

Start date at Flock: April 5, 2021

Spirit bird: Owl (it’s my favorite animal!)

Some people have the misconception that success is sheer luck, but I know that’s not true.

All throughout college, I knew that I was getting myself into a competitive field, but the challenge of becoming an engineer never intimidated me; it only fueled my desire to succeed even more.

After graduating from Southern Polytechnic University, I landed my first real job at a small machine vision company. It was there that I soon realized that working with the kinds of products they developed — cameras, diapers and feminine products — was not my forte. Although the complexity of manufacturing those products was extremely intriguing, I wanted a more fulfilling career that could satisfy my goal-driven personality.

Without another job in sight, I worked my way through 2020 doing anything I could to make ends meet. From repairing computers and phones, to working in a bakery, I did it all.

Luckily on March 12, 2021, I received an exciting phone call from a Flock Safety recruiter who informed me about an engineering position that seemed almost too good to be true. The job would allow me to use my passion for engineering to design state-of-the-art technology that solves crimes.

Just knowing that I would have an impact on the safety of others was enough to sell me, and I hadn’t even been interviewed yet. After a few successful meetings, I was thrilled to be hired on to the Product Engineering team, which is where I proudly work today.

Although designing impactful technology is a dream come true, my favorite part about working at Flock is the culture. From the day of my phone interview, to where I am now, the people at Flock have empowered me to grow at an unimaginable rate, and with no signs of stopping.

I am thankful that Flock Safety has given me the opportunity to make a difference, and to be part of such a close-knit, driven community of people.
