The City of Eastvale, California, is stepping up its efforts to keep the community safe with the launch of an exciting new initiative—the Shopping Center License Plate Recognition (LPR) Camera Grant Program. This forward-thinking program is designed to tackle crime head-on in shopping centers across the city by implementing advanced technology.
What’s the Program All About?
The City of Eastvale is offering a grant to qualifying shopping centers, reimbursing up to 25% of the first year’s costs for installing LPR cameras. The LPR cameras are built by Flock Safety, a public safety technology company that helps neighborhoods, communities, and law enforcement work together to keep residents safe.
How Can Flock Safety LPR Cameras Help?
Flock Safety LPR cameras capture license plates and vehicle characteristics—not people or faces—ensuring privacy while still being effective. When a stolen car or a vehicle associated with a known suspect is detected, the system sends a real-time alert to law enforcement. The cameras are also linked to AMBER and Silver Alerts, making them invaluable in the search for missing persons.
A Commitment to Community Safety
Mayor Christian Dinco expressed his enthusiasm for the new program, stating, “With the Shopping Center License Plate Recognition Camera Grant Program, we’re giving law enforcement the tools they need to prevent crime and keep Eastvale safe. This program shows our commitment to using smart solutions to protect our community.”
The impact of Flock Safety’s technology is already being felt nationwide. Over 5,000 communities have adopted Flock cameras, with over 3,000 police departments, including Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, using them to enhance public safety.
A Partnership for Safer Communities
Garrett Langley, CEO of Flock Safety, emphasized the importance of collaboration in public safety efforts, saying, “At Flock Safety, we believe in building strong bonds between police departments and the citizens they pledge to protect, and we are proud to partner with the City of Eastvale to help them in the pursuit of public safety.”
This grant program marks a significant step forward for Eastvale, reinforcing the city’s dedication to protecting its residents and supporting local businesses. With these innovative LPR cameras, Eastvale is not just reacting to crime but taking proactive steps to create a safer, more secure community for everyone.
