MARIETTA, GA – Gateway Marietta Community Improvement District (GMCID), a self-taxing district established by property owners to improve infrastructure and public safety, has announced a new multi-year partnership with Flock Safety, the only automatic license plate reading (ALPR) camera system built specifically for neighborhoods and communities. Under the partnership, four privately-owned ALPR cameras will be installed in Marietta in early 2019 with the option to add more.

The partnership reflects one of Gateway Marietta CID’s key focus areas in enhancing the Franklin Gateway corridor through public safety. “Since our founding in June 2014, we’ve seen a 40% drop in crime,” said Mark Lawson, chairman of the board for Gateway Marietta CID. “Thanks to our investment in relationships with our business partners, the Marietta Police Department, and in crime-fighting technology, like Flock Safety.”

“Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is to eliminate property crime,” said co-founder and CEO of Flock Safety, Garrett Langley, “Within the last month, we were able to give Marietta PD the evidence they needed to get a violent domestic abuser off the streets and recover a stolen vehicle. And now, this public-private partnership with Gateway Marietta CID, while working closely with Marietta PD, marks a significant step toward making our mission a reality.”
