An internship is your chance to dive into a potential career, not just observe it from the sidelines. At Flock Safety, we believe that experience should be immersive—giving you the tools, trust, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully, push past your comfort zone, and grow beyond the walls of a classroom.
Curious what that looks like in action? Meet a few Flock employees who began their journey as interns and turned early opportunities into full-time careers.
When Lizola first discovered Flock Safety, it was through a simple online search. After applying, she landed an internship on the Field Marketing team—and hit the ground running.
“I was able to… actually contribute to the business here at Flock,” Lizola shared. “That was my main reason for wanting to stay long-term—because I felt like I was making an impact.”
Anyone in field marketing knows that flawless logistics are the backbone of a successful event. From registration to booth setup, every detail matters.
As a Field Marketing Intern, Lizola focused on these essential details: ensuring event materials shipped on time, costs stayed under control, and processes were continually optimized. One of her proudest achievements? Reducing shipping costs by 35% over the second half of the year. Her efforts didn’t go unnoticed.
The Flock culture also played a key role in her decision to go full-time. “What I love about the people here is that they’re always coming up with innovative solutions. My ideas were heard and implemented—that’s something I really value.”
Lizola’s advice for future interns? Ask for feedback, stay curious, and make time for coffee chats: “The sales team, the revenue org—they’re all willing to set you up for success.”
Cam’s path to Flock Safety started five and a half years ago—when the company was still in its early days. Instead of choosing a big-name company, he joined a small, scrappy startup called Flock Safety.
What started as a short-term gig quickly grew into something more. “They gave me a lot of opportunity to make decisions that were impactful,” he said. “I could do something today and see the results next week.”
During his internship, Cameron wore many hats—structural engineering, sales ride-alongs, and even helping set up Flock’s first warehouse. As Flock grew, so did Cameron’s role. He transitioned from intern to mechanical design lead, eventually hiring a team and stepping into product management.
Cam’s journey took him from intern to mechanical design lead to product manager, hiring and leading teams along the way. His story is a testament to how Flock empowers interns to grow into pivotal leaders.
“At Flock, your ideas matter—regardless of your title. That’s what makes it such a great place to start and grow a career.” — Cam Whiteman
After working full-time for several years, Ben made a bold pivot—leaving his job for a three-month engineering internship at Flock Safety. “I was only guaranteed three months here… I just told myself, if you work really hard, it will all work out,” he said.
That leap of faith paid off. Ben rotated across three engineering focus areas, giving him the exposure and clarity to discover where he could thrive. The experience was both challenging and affirming.
“There’s room to grow here… even though it’s a remote-first culture, there are so many people willing to help you learn.” — Ben Anderson
Now a full-time Engineer, Ben appreciates the flexibility that Flock provides—especially as he juggles part-time college classes. His journey highlights not only personal growth, but how supportive teams and mentorship can empower interns to succeed.
Flock Safety’s internship program is anything but traditional—and that’s by design. Whether you’re managing national events like Lizola, launching new hardware like Cam, or exploring engineering paths like Ben, you’re not just gaining experience. You’re launching a career.
